Sqeaking tripod

Didn't know where to put this,

My tripodhead Manfrotto 501 that I use for my dvx has started squeking when I set the resistance fairly strong. THe only way it doesn't squeak is if I make the ristance less but the camera starts moving of its own accord if I do this.

How do you stop a tripod head squeeking?

I'm guessing that the cause is an ad shoot I did a couple of months ago and it was a really rainy day but unfortunatly the market I had to film only happens once a year so I put the rain cover over the DVX and shot away. THe tripod got a bit wet though so this was probally the cause.

Any help would be great, I'm sure this has happened to others.

Upgrade to a 503. The 501 isn't a true fluid head. If it was it wouldn't squeak.
Cold comfort I know.

Well my 503 head was squeaking when I got it but it was something I was doing...I finally figured out that the head was locked and I was forcing it, making it squeak. I am embarrassed to admit I did this.
