Spy Master

Yeah, he was a nice guy. And yes, I was (and am) surprised that I didn't get ANY FLACK for having this appendage hanging from the side of my van.

And no, not wrapped yet. I have to play a waiting game with my actors and find a day that they are both free... plus the sun has to be out since we've established it.

while we were shotting a scene from The Corsairs a cop pulled up right as our lead actor was holding a gun and beating the shi* out of the other character. It looked like a real gang beating because we had cars with their headlights on and other actors leaning against the cars. The cop pulled his gun on our lead and told him to drop the weapon. I can't tell you how embarassing that was.

However, everything was fine. I was holding the camera and lowered it to the ground upon his command. I even stopped it from recording and I can't tell you how aggrivated I was! It wouldve been great to have some of that on tape!

I'm glad everything went fine for you, Ted! I'm really looking forward to this one!!!!

Hey Kyle,

That was a pretty gruesome scene... You must have really freaked those cops out! Too bad you stopped recording... but hey, it is a natural instinct. I did. Immediately. And I would never have hit the record button on the camera but since I had a remote, I just couldn't resist!

I am going to start informing the police of my shoots from now on. Only makes sense, especially since he said that I can do whatever I want on public property!

(btw, I can't resist... you have a typo!!! :) Sorry! Please don't start beating me up... I know that I deserve it!)

Theo - take a picture of you using them lights, if you get the chance. Anything to pl,ug Marius' smart invention, Marius rocks by the way. I forgot to send what looks like the charger to the light, I really don't know if it's it or not, but it sounds like you're doing okay without it. Glad you loved the socks.:)

Hey Charli, I will take a picture. I tried to during the shoot but the battery on my DSLR died!!! I couldn't believe it. I guess that is better than my dvx battery dying though!

Here are a couple of grabs from Friday's shoot. (Yes, these we're taken BEFORE the cops came!)

In this set-up, the dvx is mounted on the outside of the vehicle using the rig that I created ( http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?p=936048#post=936048 )

I used two (awesome) VIDLEDs with 1/4 CTO. They worked great. (thanks again, Chuck!) I will be posting some pix of the interior set-up later.

For now... enjoy the grabs. And if you haven't checked out "The Cop Stop," please do. I think that you will enjoy it. It's only 2 1/2 minutes long and 13 MB big... or small.

Thanks!

-Ted

BTW, my two actors are:

Arik Blanchard and Audrey Rouleau (I will be formally posting info on them on Post #2 soon)

Seeing your actress Ted, I think I definitely need to come up and help you shoot...DEFINITELY.
Yeah.... she looks great. She's a real sweetheart. She's also the girlfriend of Arik... the guy driving the van!

Mark I would LOVE your help but unfortunately this shoot is flying by the seat of my pants at the moment! IF I get a solid day of availability from my 'living-together-actor/actress-combo,' I will let you know!

I know what you mean, thats how the hit man short is going to be it seems. Especially when the Warped tour starts and my actor is gone.

Yeah, I am a bit nervous. Luckily, it looks like I can have them both on Saturday for a few hours and the weather forcast is "sunny" right now. Geez, I hope that it stays that way!

What, you weren't coming up here to see ME???

btw, whatever happened to that email you were going to send me???

New Ladder Rig!!!

New Ladder Rig!!!

FOR AMUSEMENT PURPOSES ONLY

Well, what would a Ted Arabian film be with a ladder involved???

This is my new (used) crane!!! I do have a Bogen 3191 (sticks) coming on Saturday but I couldn't wait to just test this puppy out!!! (though, the ladder does work well!)

btw, folks... this Glidecam Camcrane 100 ROCKS!!! (well, actually it is smooth and silent.... but you know what I mean!) This crane is so light yet sturdy. It just feels great. And I love that it breaks down into 4 different lengths from this 8'1" length to a 3'3" length. Perfect for those tight rooms!

I have to give you a close-up of the label here. Dave Steven at Glidecam has been SO INCREDIBLE to work with. I have mentioned in a previous post that Dave has gone above and beyond the expected level of customer service that I have ever seen! Emails are returned immediately and the service has been spotless! A great guy, if you don't know already! Thanks again Dave! Hey Weston! How are you doing??? Been missing you around here. Any films from you to view? Seriously, your horrorfest entry had a lot of value.

Thanks for the comments!

Very nice Ted, I will be very interested in hearing your thoughts on the 3191 sticks. I am close to ordering a pair with a 519 head. (if so I will be selling my 516) Does the crane require a 100mm bowl? What does the crane weigh both with nothing on it and fully loaded? Finally, what are you using there for a monitor?

Hey I've been pretty good...thanks for asking. Howbout yourself? Ive been filming as usual... nothing really worth showing though. But anyway....i'm definately looking forward to this. It looks like your putting alot into it.
