Hi everybody,

A big shout out goes to DVXUser plastic who alerted me that my account was hacked and a Sony FS7 was offered for sale under my name. This sale is fraudulent. plastic noticed something pfishy right away and contacted me.

I had a different item for sale on DVXUser and received this message in my DVXUser inbox:

Hello

I am very interested in your item,

click on my link and log in to see it.
to see if there is anything you will like for trade.

[spoofed link deleted although it had dvxuser in the URL]

Thanks

Silly me, this user had zero posts on DVXUser. Fortunately I contacted the admins right away and they jumped on it.

I think it is great this site is somewhat self-policing. We don't want some bozo's screwing it up.

Interesting. I got the same message (which I stupidly clicked on) but never saw my gear offered for sale. I figure they were looking for my password.

I tend to have my logins remembered so even if I were to click the link, being forced to log in again would strike me as suspicious. I would avoid directly clicking any links in PMs in general, especially from new users looking into marketplace transactions. If anything, hover over the link to see where it points to, and if it looks legit, copy it or type it in manually. Same policy for questionable emails. I never click any links in emails from my bank, ebay, PayPal etc. If you need to check that stuff go to the site directly! It's far too easy to not pay attention the one time it could matter if you make exceptions.

I also got that but ignored it. it was so clearly a scam, i figured it would be obvious to everyone. too generic, no mention of the item i am selling, and asking me to "log in" is a big red flag. But daily i get these kinds of messages to my email. they try saying they are from FEDEX, UPS, Apple, etc. Two things that give it away, they don't know my name, just my email, and their knowledge of the english language is a little off, as if they are translating word by word from a dictionary.
