Splitting Clips

Dumb question... When I press the s key to split a clip, it splits everything on the timeline. How can I just split one clip?

Click on the clip to highlight that clip before you hit the S key.

You can also use 'U' to ungroup video from audio before you split.

Also, there is an icon at the top titled "ignore event grouping". I use this rather than "U" because I want those events to group again sometimes.
