Spike Lee - Red Hook Summer, Shot on F3?

I read a tweet from Andy at Abel maybe last week that he sold maybe rented an F3 to the Spike Lee, the article listed above is reveling of the state of the film industry today. The major players only want to spend money on sure things. Ticket prices are sky high and attendance is down at the theaters. Things look ripe for a major internet corporation (Google) to start paying guys like Spike Lee big dollars for first run movies to run over the internet. I'm not saying this would kill the movie industry, block buster 3D and IMAX showings would still be popular. The difference being choice of genres, something for everyone over the internet.

Beat me with the Hollywood report link, where he said "Anyway, I'd just bought this Sony camera, an F3, and I said, "We've got the means and ways and have to make do. We have to make it happen."

Just saw the movie tonight at the Arclight on Sunset in Hollywood.
I enjoyed it.

Can anyone point me to some articles about production?
I'm curious to see if they used S-Log or not and how they chose to expose the camera.

Spike is a longtime client of ours and he did in fact purchase an F3 plus numerous accessories with which he shot this movie.

Here's a nice interview with Spike covering the film, the selection of the F3 and how it all came together:

I love Spike, but I watched the trailer for this the other day and couldn't help but thinking it looked very video. I think it was mostly a product of cheap lighting, but I just felt like it could have been shot a bit better.

Thoughts from anyone else on the subject?

+1 I said that a long time ago when I first saw the Trailer and the Trailer is suppose to be better than the movie.

I dont want to put it on the camera at all, because no matter what camera you shoot with you can have good frame selection, and solid lighting. A few things bugged me in the trailer aside from cinematography, there were a lot of wides but the production design was really weak tons of blank walls that tell you nothing about the characters. Its like if you dont have the budget for solid production design, then dont shoot wides haha. Same with some of the exterior locations they fell short in beauty and they really lacked crowds that would make me believe it was really a bustling city. I think Spike could have easily found some extras to fill those exteriors. It could have all been creative choices and I wont judge it anymore because I have not seen the film but those things really stood out to me.
