Saw it last night at midnight. I just have to say that it was incredible. The special effects, the story, the acting, everything was top notch and well done. I sat in the theatre in awe. I was drawn into the emotional story... I have a new favorite movie.

If you have not seen this movie, do so. You won't regret it.

SPIDEY 2 ROCKS!

Re: Spiderman 2

Better than the first film by a factor of about a zillion. But then I wasn't a big fan of the first film. Spidey 2 basically corrects all of the mistakes and then polishes it off with a lusterous veneer. The bad guy is more complex, and with actual motivation this time. The relationship between MJ and PP is more solid and adult, if a little wishy-washy. Harry isn't nearly the distraction to the story I was afraid he would be. All in all a very solid, entertaining movie.

Re: Spiderman 2

Spidey 2 is Far superior to the first, but I thought the CG Spidey didn;t look as good. It's still bad ass, but I think the animation for the first one is better, I'm the only one though. ???

Also, the story and structure are far better than the first movie, but did anyone notice just how little Doc Oc had to do with anything? I mean, he's just kinda there for spidey to fight? Then again maybe thats what hes supposed to do and Im over thinking it. Its really about Parker and MJ, which is handled in a much more satifying way while sticking true to the original.

Re: Spiderman 2

I agree with you Cheese...The CG of spidey did look different and I noticed it first when the trailer came out....he looks a bit cartoonish compared to the first movie.

I liked the movie overall...not my favorite movie of all time tho. I did find the movie to be a bit over corney in some parts that jsut made me laugh when I think I wasn't suppose to.

Re: Spiderman 2

WEEEEEEEEE, I'm no longer the only one!

Its still extremely well done, but the animation in the first one impressed me so much, I was so suprised they could make a spiderman movie that felt so real. I'm guessing that the if you compared stills of both films, 2 would be better than 1, but I'm pretty convinced the animation is more believable in the first.

After watching all the ads on TV, I think the biggest difference is that Raimi went over board with all the continuous rotating camera angles during the swinging.

In the first one there were many shots either following or leading spidey (with appropriate camera shake) and many shots watching from stationary locations. This to me made it extremely immersive and convincing that Spidey was indeed a real person doing these things.

When the camera is constantly circling him, even if great care was taken to make things like physics accurate, you lose all sense of direction, momentum, etc.

This was kinda a big flaw to me (lol) since when I saw the first one I was completely in awe watching my favorite superhero come to life in a way I never knew I'd experience, and when I was let down a little by the fx in 2 I was frustrated and needed to find out why. Everything else about the movie had improved however, :)

Re: Spiderman 2

Spoke to my old friend who was head of CG character animation on Spidy 1 and 2. He said that they wanted a very different style of motion for his flying sequences...and a closer relationship to the comic and cartoon.

I didn't like the story of this one as much as 1.

Though I thought the scenes and dialogue between Peter and his aunt were good...and added alot to the backstory.

Re: Spiderman 2

Yep, that sounds accurate. I can't blame them, it makes sense, but its just personal preference, the "style" of 1 I find much more visceral and satisfying then the inherently more "comic book" style of the 2.

oh well, just me

Re: Spiderman 2

I expected a pretty good movie, Sam Raimi seldom dissapoints...

So I saw it yesterday.

I was blown away! Everything that made the first movie good was in here, and everything that brought it down was fixed. I didn't expect this, but it's in my opinion the best movie of the year so far.

Re: Spiderman 2

"You know...This is really heavy"

It's the lines like that (and more importantly, the way they're DELIVERED) that make this movie great.

The characters are actual characters, people you can sympathize with, hate, root for, everything that's in the best of movies. Superhero movies tend to lose a lot of the human aspects to the characters, but Raimi seems to have made that the most important part of the movie. The story, screenplay, and acting are just as solid in this movie as the action sequences and digital effects - that's something rare.

Re: Spiderman 2

Someone at work actually challenged me in a Spiderman Fact Trivia?? THE NERVE! ;)

I loved from the comics the quick wit of Spiderman. LIke:

SPOILER...

When Doc Ock starts launching bags of coins at Spiderman, he twirls around and hurls one back and yells "Here's your change!"

I gotta go see it again in theaters.

Re: Spiderman 2

anyone read any of the ultimate spider-man comics?

I bought the hardcover vol. 1 collection and could not believe how good it was.

I liked the idea of comics when i was little, even though i seldom read them. They never keeped my interests. After the last spidey movie i wanted to read some of my friends and was still bored.

But Ultimate Spidey is unbelievably good, art aside, its so well written, i wasn't prepared. I've since bought every consecutive vol. and i still enjoy them immensly.

if you're interested at all, CHECK THEM OUT!

Re: Spiderman 2

wow that was way better than the first one. Its was totally about Peter and MJ though. DocOc was a sidethought. Still, he was a much better villan than Goblin. Much less PowerRanger-esk. I think the only part I really disliked was when the crappy Goblin suite was discovered again.

Re: Spiderman 2

I did actually think it was way short on witty/cheesy lines. The comics are just full of them and his sarcastic attitude is what makes it fun. That change quip was the only one I really noticed in the whole movie.
