Spiderbrace or Varizoom VZ1

Hi,
I'm thinking about buying a shoulder support for my dvx, i bought a CB104 (or whatever its called) and it was just too heavy. I like the look of the The Varizoom VZ1 http://www.varizoom.com/products/supports/vz1shooter.html it looks comfortable but you could get tired holding it with one hand. The spiderbrace you can hold with one or two hands but the part that rests on your shoulder looks kinda cheap, like it might slip off. I bet you could add some padding. Anyone used both? I'm not sure about which one to go for, maybe the Spiderbrace. I also heard of the indiBRACE but i dont think they make them anymore as i could'nt find them for sale anywhere. (edit) just did another search and the spiderbrace with the 3 handles seems like the best bet, more versatile and affordable.

You should go with the varizoom. You can modify it by putting a second handle with brace. At some point you can also add a varizoom zoom controller to one of the handles and that would be the best all worlds. Don't go with the spider-brace. I seen one up close and personal - you can make one from home depot parts for a few dollars because that's what it is.

Good Luck

Hi Salvo,
when you say modify it by putting a second handle with grip, are you refering to DIY modifcation?? Do you know how to add a second handle? Thanks

Hi Pog,
Yes, it should not be that difficult. You will need a brace (front cross section) of some sort and second handle. I'll look at the varizoom shoulder brace more closely and I'll get back to you. Also, their are some inexpensive knockoffs on ebay as well.

Hi Salvo,
The varizoom vz1 dosent look like it would be that easy to modify, the spiderbrace looks cheap but if it does the job it would be worth it and a lot of folk on here say its fine. As i said you could add some padding to the shulder so it fits better. The whole thing looks very light but i guess the dvx would keep it secure on your shoulder so you can get steady shots. Thanks
