Spiderbrace Footage?

Hey,

I'm looking to get a Spiderbrace 2 for my 100A, but wanted to see some footage from it in action first.

Thanks,
Mike:)

I got to see Brandon in action with the Spiderbrace and I can tell you that I really want one too. It is lightweight and sturdy.

My question about these shoulder mounts is how do you use them in a documentary setting? Meaning in that type of situation you're constantly doing live camera zooming & re-focusing, how is that possible with something like the spiderbrace? Your hands are on the handles & not the camera itself.

Or is there a other solution out there for those type of situations.

I shot half of the Die Monster Die music video with the spiderbrace. I'll be posting it in a day or two. I'm just waiting on the band to give their final approval.

For me, the only way to get the full use of a spiderbrace is with zoom/focus/iris controls. That way you don't ever have to let go.

I think there is diy version of that somewhere here on the forum

Oh, so I don't have to use the handle on the Spiderbrace? I can just have it resting on my shoulder & have my hands on the camera?

Then maybe I should just get the one w/ one handle instead, it looks as if that can be used as a high hat too!

The only thing I don't like about these shoulder mounts is that you have to remove the quick release for the tripod in order to use them.

Thanx for the help!

Actually... for me... I can use it with one hand, and did once in awhile... and work the controls with the other hand.

Got it today

Got it today

Well it came today and i must say its a wonderfull piece of equipment! Takes some geting use to but it is a fun little DVX-Add on:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Just curious, but what's the use in these things? What's the difference between a sholder mounted camera to simply handheld?

Or is it just when you're shooting for a long time that this is helpful?

I find the footage(even after one day of use) to be steady looking. I think it takes camera shakes from a DV camera and gives it that smooth shake like feel of a Super 16mm camera handheld.:)

on the spider brace website it looks like the "spiderbrace2" the one with two arms, for the DVX has two screws on the bottom is that to take one of the arms off ?
