GH3 speedbooster

I have always been partial to the cheaper and yet equally high quality (IMHO) Minolta glass. I bought the MD->M43 speed booster and it is absolutely fantastic. It makes all my MD lenses 3x as useful. Not only does it allow them to cover essentially two focal lengths, it brings my prize 50mm 1.4 (which is approximately a 70mm S35 equivalent when you take into account crop) back to a true 50mm, plus it raises it a full stop to an F1.0 Lens which is super fast. I can basically take the lens and assume that it is pretty close to what I'd get on any Super 35mm camera. My Rokkor 28mm F2.8 now sings as a nice wide angle lens.

And I couldn't shoot handheld with my 50mm lenses except for very steady shots. It was just too tight of a shot with no image stabilization. Now, with the wider angle, it makes a huge difference, and I use this lens handheld quite a bit now.

I really think it was a great purchase for me, and I would totally recommend it to anyone who can afford it. It seems like a big price (especially when I've been buying these great bargain lenses) but the flexibility it added is completely worth it for me.

I have the Nikon M4/3 Speedboster and use:
Nikon 50mm f1.4
Tokina 11-14mm f2.8
Rokinon 85mm f1.4 Cine lens (pic below shot using this lens on my GH3 with the Speedbooster)

Game changer plain & simple.

I use a Nikon-mount Speedbooster on my GH2 -- with a Sigma 30mm f1.4, a Nikon 50mm f1.4, a Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 and a Sigma 50-150mm f2.8. I like it a lot!

If you don't have any glass already, I personally think the Nikon Speedbooster is the best one to go for. It gives you a declicked aperture ring to control the aperture blades of Nikkor lenses both old and new. This leaves you with a huge selection of glass to choose from, even lenses designed with the G interface that don't have their own aperture ring.

A quick question to those that have the speedbooster.

Does Autofocus work in Video mode (with autofocus lenses of course). I have searched far and wide but no conclusive answers. TIA

No, autofocus does not work as there are no electronic relays in the Speedbooster other than the EOS to E Mount version which is of no use unless you are using a Sony camera. The EOS to MFT is suppose to allow autofocus (when eventually released) but Metabones themselves say that the autofocus will be slow and not really usable for video anyway.
