Speed of Your Internet Connection

I just sent a high def video to YouTube. It plays smoothly at the YouTube HD setting (780) on my computer at work. But at home on my pre-Intel Mac G5, it stutters at the HD setting. I've reinstalled Flash so that is not the problem. I'm thinking it may have to do with my internet speed.

Is there any way to check what the actual speed of your internet connection is? I would need to check it on my Mac (Comcast Cable connection) and my work laptop (Comcast wireless).

Any help appreciated!!!

Just the opposite for me. The connection for my building at work is not fast enough to play HD smoothly but I have a very fast connection at home.

HD playback depends on a few things:

1) Speed of your connection
2) Speed of your connection to Youtube's servers at that time
3) CPU/GPU playback speeds. (Different versions of flash are more efficent as well)

Go to http://www.youtube.com/my_speed to check your speeds to youtube's servers.
