Hi, I know a lot of people don't use or have probably even heard of Speed edit from Newtek.
http://www.newtek.com/speededit/
I have it and they released the 1.2 update a few days ago.
The cool thing is that it now supports DVCPRO files.
As an experiment I created a 1920x1080 24P project in Speed edit.
I then went to my hard drive where I had copied the files from my P2 cards. I was able to go into the video folder and drag the clips straight onto the time line.
The clips were different resolutions and shooting speeds. Some were 720, 1080, 24fps, 30 Fps, 60 Fps. They all dragged right onto the time line and played with no conversion. Speed edit also linked the audio Files also.
I tried several different project settings in speed edit, even weird sizes like 240x1050 12 fps. All the clips dragged onto the time line and played back with no problems.
It's probably not a big deal to anyone but I thought I'd share the info.
Thanks, Mike
