Speed Booster ULTRA?

Sharper glass? I found it too and considering to buy if it is a picture quality upgrade.

But wasnt the consesus of the original speedbooster that it only degraded the image by a tiny amount in the corners?

I've certainly not had any problems with the original. Would be interesting to see a side-by-side. I'm guessing they're probably not shipping just yet?

I'm fine with mine too.

I think this one will be most interesting for HiRes stuff, meaning photography
more than video. As I don't do 4k yet, it might be interesting for newer cameras
and lenses too.

I don't see any need to upgrade from mine.

Supposedly this also introduces less barrel distortion, which more than corner softness (irrelevant for video anyway) bothered me about the original.

Can the old Leica R lenses be used on this? I heard there is a flange issue with the Summicron.

I have had the occasional edge softness on my speedbooster when wide open on my 50mm at f1.4 or my 24-70mm at 24mm f2.8, so I'm thinking about upgrading to the ultra especially since I may start moving toward 4k...

Most 50mm f/1.4 photo lenses are well known to be soft wide open, so adding a SpeedBooster to this mix is not going to make a soft lens any better.

I shoot with a Nikon 50mm f/1.4 with a Metabones SpeedBooster, and always close down by one F-stop when shooting. ( f/2.0 on the Nikon lens, which equates to f/1.4 with the SpeedBooster )

How do you like the Metabones Nikon G speedboster? I have a cheap eBay one, just wondering if the Metabones is worth the upgrade. Since mine is cheap, I tend to use it only in situations where I absolutely need the wider FOV + extra light.

I've only done one professional shoot with the Metabones and so far I'm not seeing a huge difference between the Metabones and the Mitakon Zhongyi adapter. The Metabones is much better built, but I've always been happy with the image from the Mitakon Zhongyi adapter.

To be honest: I tried at least 10 lenses on the speedbooster and have seen
many more examples from others.
It depends much more on the lens than on the speedbooster, how your footage
will look like. All lenses I tried performed well on the speedbooster, but their
characteristics from 135/FF now were brought over to S35, with all the goods and
bads. Shallower DOF - yes. Softer edges wide open - yes.
Will the new ultra change anything on this behaviour - no.

But beware of cheap imitations. I tried one of the zhongyi lens turbos and it suffered
from hot spots, which are blue and it was way softer in the edges.

Are you able to keep this thing locked in advanced mode or do you have to go through the process every time you switch on camera?
