GH5 speed booster sigma problems

I have had 3 different speed boosters over the past month, metabones version 1, the S version and a brand new XL. The only one that worked flawlessly is the version 1. I just got a new XL in today and it is giving me the exact same problems that the S version did. All firmware on boosters and lenses is up to date. I have a Sigma 18-35 and 50-100. When attaching the lens i get there error message lens not attached correctly and cannot change anything electronically. This happens every single time on my GH5 and GH4 with the 18-35. The 50-100 sometimes attaches and works but more like 50/50. Again this happens on the GH5 and GH4. I have replaced the 18-35 thinking maybe that was the issue. I am on my 3rd booster thinking that was the problem. I have tried 2 different bodies. Again the only one that worked was the generation 1 with new firmware which of course I just sold today because the new XL arrived. Anyone else having these issues??

I know this probably isn't the answer that you're looking for, but perhaps switching from EF mount to Nikon mount would help, since Nikon has manual aperture control (the very reason why I'll never own a Canon lens - beside that their bodies are overpriced and arteficially crippled).

Thats is a rather unrealistic suggestion and unnecessary since hundreds of people on here use the Canon mounts with the different SpeedBooster adapters with 100% success. Besides some people actually like the fact that EF lenses function on m43 bodies with the same capabilities as a Canon body. Not saying the Nikon mount is bad but in this case the OP already owns the EF lenses and likely not willing to sacrifice the advantage or have to bother with selling one mount and taking a loss to buy the other mount set of lenses.

Is it possible that I had 2 bad speed boosters? I am not sure what to think, very frustrating. I was lucky to even find a new xl since they are back ordered everywhere which will be sent back. I just ordered the kipon af adapter, not the booster version, so I can "hopefully" at least be able to use the lenses on my next shoot Sunday. Once the speed boosters are back in stock somewhere I suppose I will try another one.

Did you eliminate the case the Sigmas might have a problem?
Are the contacts clean? Do they work on a Canon body?

i did replace the 18-35 since it was brand new thinking that was it, 2nd one acts the same. All contacts are clean. I don't have a canon body to test with. If the Kipon adapter works then that should narrow it down. We shall see.

I've used the 18-35 GH5 combo with XL Speed Booster several times with no issues like you are having. Only problem is the vignetting at 18mm. Strange issue.

you tried the aperture click button on the speedbooster?get the ultra xl vignettes in stills mode with the 18-35

You are making an assumption there.

The OP has already bought and sold two Speedboosters and replaced their Sigma 18-35mm lens. It seemed to me that purchasing another lens mount might be a viable option for them.

I was only trying to help. Please don't dog pile onto me for offering assistance. My post spoke directly to the OP's problem. Your post did not.

The Kipon adapter finally came in today and it recognizes both sigma lenses and functions well except I cannot activate ibis. It is grayed out in the menu and shows as being off with the on-screen hand icon. It is hard to find much info doing a search on this, firmware is also up to date on the Kipon. Anyway, at least it works in terms of focus, iris and using the lenses. Once I find another speed booster I will be trying that route again to see what happens.

That is really good news and it only shows that, just because a product is brand new, it does not mean that it is not defected. Thank you for the update.
