Specialized Communications Orders

Hello fellow patient camera nerds-

I just wanted to open up a discussion of those who pre-ordered through specialized communications (the super deal), have you received your camera? when did you order?

I ordered late December and was told in late January that shipments were steady and I might be expecting to get it soon since they were already filling the November orders. But then they told me the same thing a month later. What gives Spec-comm?

i havnt heard any members that have been fulfilled by spec, but to be fair the orders all around have been pretty sparce.

I ordered mine on December 9th, and got it at the end of February. I never had any problems getting them to return my phone calls or e-mails, and they were very courteous. A couple of times it took them a day to return the call, but I imagine they had a lot of calls. I've been very happy with them and the camera.

I'd like to say that I've found Spec-Comm's service and responsiveness to be really outstanding (notwithstanding the fact that they haven't shipped my camera yet...). They've always been reachable, and in response to questions it's not been unusual for the president of the company to call and discuss things at length. Unfortunately, the whole preorder situation is a bit messed up everywhere, and, sadly, especially for some of the most reputable and respectable dealers who of course had many more preorders.
Spec-Comm's been great!

fantastic.. thanks for the Update Seamus.

Ullanta.. Yes... david is here all the time, fielding questions. I imagine they probally are a little tired of the "where is my camera" calls, so things may be a little messy right now. What can you do...

They know thier stuff though, thats for sure.

Spec-Comm HAS indeed been very helpful whenever I've talked to them. (In my experiance, talk to Andrew not the girls in the office.) They even admitted in an email to pre-order customers that the situation is messed up and offered to do the most that any reasonable customer could hope for. (refund the non-refundable deposit.)

As I figure it "DON'T SHOOT THE MESSENGER". They are a respected Panasonic dealer and one of very good size and volume. Unfortunately as has been mentioned here and in other threads, the bigger dealers for Panasonic have really suffered because of Panasonics way of allocating shipments. Those large dealers (read - most trusted and experianced) attracted a lot of orders. Panni didn't consider that when shipping.

I have called around out of curiosity to see if there are cameras out there. I did find some dealers that have units to ship. These dealers with one exception wanted what amounts to about about $350 more for the camera alone. But if you need it, you need it! You should be able to get one with enough calls.

I found one dealer that beat the Spec-Comm price by about $100. BUT.... Spec-Comm throws in a spare battery (6000 mAh), free shipping and 10% off the cost of their CinePorter. If you don't buy the CinePorter, that made it just about even. The other dealer had units in stock. I thought long and hard about it and decided to wait. Reason ---- I guess I am betting Spec-Comm will do a better job of helping me and keeping me happy long after the supply problem is just a memory. (God I hope so.)

That being said, it's no fun waiting and there are limits. If Panasonic doesn't solve this situation soon I may have to just bite the bullet, buy one from another dealer who has them in stock and hope for the best down the road.

I ordered mine in mid-late december from spec comm and got the unit last week. They were very helpful in terms of keeping me up to date and were flexible when I wanted to switch packages while waiting.

I ordered mine last week and I'm not expecting it until the end of next month. Jasmine sounded confident the order would be filled by then, but who knows. In the end it might take a while but the price really was sweet.

I ordered in September and got it Feb 8th. They called in January to just check in and let me know about the delays. They've been courteous and responsive - no complaints from me, and they had the best price.

I ordered a couple weeks ago, and was told they expected all their back orders to be filled by NAB. I need it in early May, so I hope they're right. They have been friendly and responsive, plus had the best price. Also, their extra battery and the Cineporter discount helps (if I decide to get).

I ordered mine about a week before Christmas and got it last week (picked it up in person). I've had a great experience with them. I've met Andrew and Jasmine. Both were very nice people.

I ordered our 2 cameras late late December and I don't mind that they are late because the Cineporter isn't out yet as we refuse to bother with the overpriced P2 cards. Our shoots are often multicamera and we shoot about 5 hours of footage per camera. So Spec-Comm, please hurry up on the Cineporter, or better yet, ship our 2 cameras with 2 of your largest Cineporters! ;)
