Spec (of dust) on the ND 3 filter

Yep, I know the front of the camera is assembled in clean dust free room... etc...

Was shooting last Saturday, so what looked like a spec on the lens, was a spec inside the head of the camera. I got scared because I first though it was on the sensor, in which case I would have to stop shooting... but actually it is on the front side of the ND 3 filter (I can see it spinning when I spin the ND wheel...) ...

Never had to deal with warranty before... I bought the camera in April, does that fall in something the warranty should cover, in which case where should I send it? Or do I need to waste one my AF100 trip to Sagemax...?

Thanks!

Sounds more like a chip than a speck if it won't come off with a cloth or compressed air. Contact the manufacturer. But generally speaking that's considered self-inflicted damage and you won't get a replacement for free.

There's another piece of glass between the lens mount and the sensor... with the NDs sandwiched in the middle; as such one probably couldn't clean the NDs without disassembling part of the camera. It also wouldn't automatically be user-inflicted damage.

Hummm.... but it is inside, so I can't have access to it with a cloth or air, it is behind the low pass filter, in front of the sensor....

That's a bummer... sound like I have to call sagemax... Thanks for the heads up.

How do people who don't have Sagemax deal with that...?

I believe the cam has an automatic one year warranty, & three if you registered it. Call Panasonic to get the paperwork started then drop it off at Service Center in LA. Should be fixed in few days, or less.

Cool! Thanks. Yes, I registered. They sent me an email with some info to fill. Then they will send me an RMA# , and I can drop it off on Cahuenga. Should take 3 days o a week top... according to the guy on the phone.

"The AF100 has high priority" he said :)

Thanks again everybody!

Hi,

If you have not registered your camera for the extended warranty you should. If you don't know how talk to the guys while at the service center. the y should be able to point you in the right direction.

Best,

Jan

Jan,

Seems a production company I work with failed to register their two AF100 within the allocated first month of purchase. Is it still possible to do so?

Thanks,
Bern
