Spec Comm Batteries

Anyone know if these batteries are any good? I was looking at their camera package which they have the HVX-200 for $5,299. With it comes two 6000mAh batteries. I have seen others sell the HVX for $4995. Are these two batteries worth $300?

Lighter, and longer lasting by a reputable company, and Authorized Panasonic dealer and Authorized Panasonic repair center. you dont get any better than that.

There have been many people on this forum that had bought some cheap generic battery that only ended up blowing up. No joke.

Not my experience, but YMMV. . . . I use these all the time and they are just like the $99 ones (that Ive also purchased ). . .

Anyone out there have ANY battery BLOW UP ?

no batteries of mine have blown, just gotten mighty hot. these look like a good deal, which when it comes to TV stuff, is not always a good idea.

It is also worth noting that Dolgin Engineering which specializes in prosumer / professional camera power solutions sells the Specialized Communications battery.

I doubt that someone with as much experience in electrical engineering would stake their reputation on selling an inferior and potentially damaging product.

i dunno the difference in price between a cheap battery and a proven one seems like nothing on a $5000+ camera....

just my 2c

I have 8 spec-comm batteries. They are long lasting. Work great so far. I use them with the TC400 dolgin charger. All of which, I bought from spec-comm when I bought my HVX's.

It's also worth noting that you get 2% off of that 5299 when you pay by certified check. The batteries normally cost 100 bucks. I haven't had a single problem yet, but I haven't used them tons over the last couple of months. I don't expect that I will anytime soon. Spec-comm has never gotten a bad rep/wrap from anyone here.

My 2 cents,
Jason

There are vendors that sell the Spec-Comm 6000MaH battery for 89.99...

At that price difference, I wouldn't trust anything less. 10.00 or 1000.00+ to fix your 'sploded HVX in the future.

To the original question: 5200 for the extra battery/ies is really a your-call situation. You could always get another battery later and go for the 5k package. After-all, even with the free 8gig card... you still might want to put that 200 toward a 4gig or something until your 4-6week wait for your free 8gig is up.

Can't use the camera's best abilities til you have it. And two (2) cards are a must.

I have purchased 4 Spec-Comm 6000MaH batteries 2 of which dont charge unless you put them on the charger crooked (they are great once they charge), 1 doesnt charge at all, and 1 works great. Im in the process of sending the bad ones back. That said, they are responsive and I would buy from there again becuse they do stand by their product.
Not so sure bout the "cheap guys"
