I just finished my latest short that i would like to share with you all.

It's really good.
The Camera work, lighting and edit are all very professional.
the one thing that let's it down is the audio from inside the kitchen.
it's too THIN.
What mics have you got, did you have a proper sound recordist.
What edit software do you have, you could run the audio through Logic, or ProTools
to try and give it a little more presence

good job

Ian

Ok - it was good enough I immediately jumped to your website and viewed some of your other work. Website design & photography VERY impressive. Your other posted work also very good.

Some personal and highly subjective thoughts on Spare Change. . .

A very nice tight script, pace and timing were excellent.

I have to agree the biggest technical weakness was the audio. Not the intros and music, just the dialogue. Levels are inconsistent enough to interfere, interior shots especially needed dampning

The timeline you gave was very impressive, shows you were highly organized. My only other observation would be - it's not really a race. I got this feeling that several of the scenes might have benefited from a couple more takes. The actors did very well, but the vagrant/prophet especially had a looong way to reach to get to his character. Some scenes were very very good, others I got the feeling he could have benefited from a little more time to get there . . imho.

I got the same feeling on some of your other work. First take on any scene is always a little rough - actors are delivering lines. It takes a couple of trips through the voicebox before that subtle pacing and interaction sets in that makes it so . . . believable.

Every director has their own pace and style of working, I just got the impression your might be highly caffinated ???

Many thanks for sharing, enjoyed it and looking forward to more.

All of your work looks really good, dude. Canon or not. Very cinematic. Very distinct style you have, as well. Seems like you enjoy shooting "straight-on" and along levels. Though your photography style seems a bit different. Or maybe it's just me and I should look at more of both.

When I say straight-on, I mean like the kitchen scene in SPARE CHANGE. It's mostly on-the-level and flat. Either way, it all looked nice.

Not sure what Spare Change was really about as far as a narrative, but you sure showed that XL2 off. Thanks for sharing.

I loved the camera work and the tone of the film. I really enjoyed it. I understand what they were saying about the "Kitchen Scene" though, maybe a little low BG music would do the trick other than that, good job.

Great Job! I would suggest shooting the kitchen scene differently and perhaps changing the title. "Spare Change" is pretty cliche among videos involving bums. I don't have any ideas I could pitch at you but I doubt you would need them anyways. I'm gonna check out your otherwork.

thanks for all the comments guys. I edit on Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0, and its called Spare Change because it has a double meaning. Again thanks again! Will be working on the sound issues :)
