South Beach Diet

I produced a vegetarian/vegan cooking show for a while and I tell you the most fattening meals were all the tofu vegan things the Chef made. Very few of the vegans/vegetarians we had on set (audience and guest hosts) were thin. It was strange. I always thought vegan food was healthy… I guess like any style of food it just depends.

I'm mostly vegetarian and I have to agree. Since the food you start with tastes gross, you have to add the most fat to make it taste better. Vegetarian south beach is possible and would work super well, however, but I want my chips and ice cream. I may start on a diet much like that since I want to be a lifeguard for halloween which means no shirt.

Then again, lean meat and chicken is a lot better than gobs of bacon. By the same token, I have a cousin who ate nothing but candy, ice cream, bacon, pizza, goldfish crackers, etc. but and stayed super thin since he didn't eat much else.

SBD rocks. My wife and I went on it before our wedding and lost around 11 pounds each. I fell off the wagon a few months ago and restarted it and lost 14 pounds.

It really shows you the proper way to eat and manage your meals. Stick with it! And don't feel guilty if you fall off or cheat. You can always go back to phase 1 when you need to.

Keep us updated! I still have about 8 pounds to go before I feel like "me" again!

Good luck!
