Sound setup

How should you setup sound if your sound op is using an external preamp - what levels are you looking for and how do you calibrate with tone?

I have been having issues with this - the internal gain is so sensitive that is goes from almost no bars to almost all bars with just a minor push.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Shouldn't be that way -- you probably have a line/mic mismatch. Make sure you match your input to what the mixer is sending.

Then you should calibrate to what the sound-op is sending you, which will be typically -20. On the HVX, -20 is at the first set of vertical bars; the second set is -12 so you can calibrate to either.

Do you mean calibrate the tone to -20 or the average value of the sound?
