Does anyone know how to make the sound even on the dvx100?

When we hook up a boom mic to the left channel and after we down load the footage onto the mac for editing, we end up with the sound being on the left speaker. The only way I can have it on both speaker is film without the boom mic and just use the built in mic's on the camera.

The boom mic has a much cleaner sound and would like it to record on both channel.

Re: Sound on DVX100

and a trick i learned from one of those "pro" audio folks:

once the shotgun is set to record to both channels 1 and 2, use your audio levels pots (dials) to make one a bit hot, and one padded (lower than hot). then you'll be sure to get good sound w/ either the hot or the backup w/ the padded channel if there's any distortion on the hot.

did that make sense?

Plus, any NLE should allow you to turn that mono signal into (fake) stereo, putting the audio on both channels. On Premiere you'd say "take left" (I think), and on Vegas you tell it "channels: left only" or something like that. So whatever editor you're using, look at the audio options, there's likely a switch or function for having it ignore one audio channel and turn the remaining audio channel into stereo.

Yeah... Today during a shoot, I decided to put the boom on input 1 and the internal mic on input 2 (just to see which would sound better in post, incase there was some handling noise from the boom; no shock mount). Haven't the time to edit yet, but I'll soon find out if it was a useful idea.
