Used but not abused. This unit has been on several gigs. I modified the case to mount on a DSLR cage (this was before the release of the MixPre-D) by removing the internal assembly and drilling holes on the bottom and top to mount non-conductive plastic screws, held by plastic nuts on the outside to prevent the plastic screws from touching internal components. I have since removed the screws and put the unit back to its original appearance. Of course the holes remain and thus is not weather resistant. I covered the holes with basic tape. The new user can figure out how to cover the holes more effectively.

The MixPre works very well just as it always has. I’m selling it at a relatively low-cost because of the holes and that I did remove and re-install the internal assembly, a one-piece circuit board to which all plugs and jacks are company-mounted and soldered, no dangling wires whatsoever (very efficient Sound Devices construction). None of the electronics are modified, I always removed the batteries during the procedure, and I can confirm that no circuitry has been affected. I tested this unit several times after putting it back together to quantify its operations and justify that everything is fine: inputs (exclusively mic level), outputs (exclusively line level), switches, metering, slate, pots, limiter, hirose, all 100% functional. I tested it last week with the the mic (see below), and not only does the MixPre work very well as it should, it makes the mic (see below) sound better than any other preamp it’s been through.

I bought the MixPre in 2006. I recently procured a MixPre-D from another DVXuser for its legitimate mounting system and other attributes.

Electro-Voice RE510 supercardioid condenser mic

Electro-voice RE510 supercardioid condenser mic, requires phantom power. Bought in 2006 and seldom used. Appropriate for studio or possible video use (with a quiet external preamp) because of its tight polar pattern. Comes with case, yellow foam cover, clip, and generic Guitar Center 15’ XLR cable.

I used this for singer songwriters to isolate voice and guitar, and as a video mic in conjunction with a 48v mixer. Output is low for a condenser mic, but stellar preamps with low noise floor such as Sound Devices produce quality sonics. I currently have other video options and no longer operate a studio, so this mic is included with the MixPre. You must accept the mic with the MixPre.

Potpourri

The two items above will go into a large USPS flat rate box and don’t be surprised to be bestowed with other goodies inside. You must accept the potpourri with the MixPre.

$210 all inclusive: free USPS Priority Mail to any official 50 states in the USA union with insurance, delivery confirmation, and PayPal (I will absorb 3% fees, do not send gift). Please, no international or Canadian sales. The well-insulated box and contents are heavy, intl shipping fees will kill ya’, not worth sending out of USA.

I’m not an internet junkie and have no mobile devices, so be patient for a response. I’m usually online in the morning and evening Pacific time for an hour.

Hey hey! If you decide to change your mind about shipping internationally I'll happily take the Mix Pre! (if you're also willing to separate it from the mic) It's exactly what I'm after - with the holes and all for my DSLR!

Some calculations if you need them:
USPS can express mail a flat rate box that's 11" x 8" x 5" and under 20lb to Sydney, Australia for just $80!
The Mix Pre itself is about 5.5" x 4" x 2", double those dimensions to allow for bubble wrap etc and it'd fit nicely into the USPS box and the weight is way under too ;)
