sound delay

Hey, all -

I am the proud new owner of a DVX100A -- but I'm having an odd problem: in 24p (F5) mode, there is a weird delay in the audio as I listen through the headphones. I unfortunately (and ridiculously) don't have a tape with me to check if it is actually laying this delayed out of synch sound down to tape, but it is odd as I'm setting up the camera that there is a strange maybe half second delay between my subject talking and me hearing them in the headphones. It doesn't seem to happen in the F1 setting, so my guess is that it has something to do w/24p. But I can't imagine everyone shoots like this! Is there a setting that I'm unaware of?

Of course I'm going on a shoot tomorrow, so I hope I can figure this out!

Thanks,
Sam

Wow! I guess your ear just gets used to it... Well - good to know I don't have to take my camera back tomorrow morning. Thanks.

It can definitely be disconcerting when you're able to hear both the "live" sound of the talent and the slight delay from the headphones at the same time. Some good quality, heavily-padded, noise-cancelling headphones can help.
