Sound and video skips

Hi,

I just purchased the DVX 100A and I am very concerned that it's not compatable with my software on my Mac. I have Final Cut Express 3.0 and when I go to view footage that I previously completed with my little JVC camera, it is not outputting smoothly at all. It jumps several frames as well as audio. This also happens with any new footage.

I have preset the camera and the FCE settings according to the guide that I found on the Panasonic sight, but that still has not corrected the problem.

Has anyone had this problem, or are there any suggestions to correct it. I would hate to return the camera for something like this.

Thanks,
Peter

Hi ,
I have the same setup as yours and I just bought the camera new. No issues with mine FCE. Do you think it could be NTSC and PAL incompatiblity? Just a wild guess..

Are you outputting you previous edits from the JVC to the DVX or are you have problems with footage captured from the DVX?
Run disk utility with repair permissions. Make sure you have plenty of disk space and memory available.
The dvx shoudl be fine for input and output although most users don't use the DVX itself forcapture/output since that causes more wear and tear.

Joe, I don't think it's a NTSC problem, I have it set for NTSC.

Scott, I have a previous project already downloaded. When I play it back with my JVC the output is fine, but when I view it with the DVX that's when it's choppy.

I repaired permissions, but I am still having the same problem. Any other suggestions?

I just noticed it's when I render a clip. Whern I first put in a clip into the timeline, it runs fine. But when I edit and render, that's when it starts skipping. I attempted to reset my rendering controls, but I don't think I'm getting the correct combination.

What do you think?

I am having a similar problem. When I tape somethin with the DVX and play it through another camera to capture, I get strange audio chirping. If I even rewind a tape the DVX shot and play it back on the DVX, it still chirps. Only if I record, rewind, and play from the DVX does the audio come out right.

Anyone know why this would be happeneing?
