Sound and P2 space?

Stupid question... Does recording high quaility sound take up anymore space than using the onboard mic?

could you not record audio to save space for more recording time? and is there a way to not import the audio into FCP to save space?

No, audio is always recorded. Don't know how to not-import it into FCP, although I guess you could delete the audio tracks off the card before importing?

If you are just setting up a Capture using FCP you can customize it to no capture the audio and only the video. for what its worth.
