Sorry

This film is terrific, Joe! Nice job! I loved the twist at the end and the "Sorry" line had me laugh out loud, the delivery was perfect! I also especially liked the office scene in slow motion. The only part that stands out to me was the woman raising her arms repeatedly in agitation. It felt a little over the top to me, but that is being picky. Overall, awesome entry and thank you for sharing it.

Thanks Rebecca. I agree with the comment about the woman raising her hands repeatedly, I was working with friends and family for the extras in that scene. We actually had that shot starting earlier with her in the adjacent office on the computer with another worker, but when she got up to cross into the other room the other worker laughed. I didn't notice when we were shooting. So we decided to start the shot later during her cross.

I'm still really happy with what we got. Congrats to you for Without Provication. It was one of my favorites in the fest.

Haha.
SPOILER ALERT
Loved the simple twist ending and how everything built up so dramatically to that simple twist ending.

I didn't follow what was supposed to be happening all the time in the middle section, but this one is definitely one of the better ones and I enjoyed watching it.

Again, love the ending. Very entertaining!

I'm glad you liked it. Your film was in my top three.

As far as not understanding the middle section. I agree, it could have been clearer. I just wanted to show through flashs that 1) the lead character was a spy. 2) that he had screwed over several people, any of which could want him dead. 3) why he needs to get out of town now.

Wheather I was successfull on all accounts, I'm not sure. It was clear to me, but maybe it didn't translate completely.

Thanks for the feedback.

Hey Joe, you know I already really love this one, but I'm finally getting a chance to post all the thoughts I wrote immediately after watching this several days ago ...

WOW, another serious contender! Very well shot, good sound, good VFX, and nice editing! My only quip that I noticed really tood out was wen the guy was walking down the hall (as a janitor), and revealed the USB stick (or whatever it was) ... it was like he was waving it for everyone or at least the camera to see vs. a nice slip into his pocket or something ... and I mean I'm REALLY picking for that one.

Otherwise, I was impressed with this from the get go! The reveal, once we knew the guy made a mistake (when he ehld the photo up, and based on the title of the film) did take WAY too long, IMO. We KNOW what the guy's going to say (oops or sorry), so it seems to drag out just a little too long. The cut back to the house address could have sed up a little mor, to add more of a comic relief .. meaning pan down the address and then SNAP! back to the numbers ... the pan back just seemed a tad slow.

Again, I'm seriously nit-picking at this point for what I feel was a great story, nice reveals, and all around excellent entry with a good comedic moment. Wish you guys made this easier on me to try & judge the top ones, as this is among the top for me!

This is one of my top movies. Very well executed and story was complete which is what I'm looking for. I watched this a few times and the story still hung in there. Good Luck!

Norm - Thanks for the notes. I agree with you. The flash drive was supposed to be a little more subtle, and the snap back to the address could have been quicker. Again, thanks for the feedback and the praise.

Aram - thanks again for all of your help. I'm glad you like the film and that you helped out without even knowing if you would like the project or not.

My Thoughts:

One of my fav films of the fest. I mentioned some of this in a PM, but the only thing that took me away from the film was the music at the release. It goes from a cool spy film to a campy oopsy poops. I love his line, "Sorry" and the whole fact of "the gold before his eyes" was great. Makes for a great ending the bad guy actually gets away.

Looking forward to your next film :)
cheers!

This looked so beautiful. I can't believe the quality. Great acting all around, fabulous lighting, and the soundtrack did actually fit rather nicely. Nothing wrong with this one - well, except two things: File "Currupt" is a misspelling, and so is "liabilty" in the end credits. That's all.

Great film. I really enjoyed it, had me tapping along on my desk. Exciting stuff.

Yes, this one one of the top films in this fest. Great story and I love how the 2 different scenarios intertwined at the end. Had me smiling at the end there. Everything was so serious up to that point. Good job, Joe!

Guys, thanks for the praise on the movie. I'm glad you liked it. And yes, we are getting the Corrupt spelling fixed. Actually we are redoing both computer screen shots. Aram is going to have the new version done any day now.

Congratulations man! Well-deserved.

I hope future fests have bonus points for new contestants. I can't see myself ever reaching the quality level of SpyFest/DramaFest.

Thanks To Everyone On Dvxuser!
