First off, I just got the F3 in yesterday, I am renting it for a week to evaluate it for my needs, as I am used to shooting Red, and Varicam. I would like to have a camera that is in between both of those and thought the F3 might be a good choice.
I have found little info on the Sony Zooms, just speculation. From what I understand one will be PL and the longer zoom will be the Sony mount? Is that true? I have used a lot of Optimo zooms over the years with a microforce and external servo, but with the new Sony lens, won't they use the rocker on the camera, isn't that what it is there for, I don't see many people mention that function, although I am not sure how useful it will be considering where they placed it. Are there any other zooms out that can use the camera servo, or any coming? If not what are you guys using for zooms, motor and controller wise. I am looking for something other than spending the cash for a Preston and Microforce. I usually don't like to zoom while recording, but sometime the client, job or shot requires it, just looking at all options.
I had a shoot today with the F3 and so far it looks great, just got to figure out the whole lens situation.
