Sony Z1U

Greetings,
I am headed to a very remote location to shoot a low budget doc. I am considering purchasing the Sony Z1U because of it's size, price, and simplicity. I want to avoid a hard disk or P2 card camera so that we won't have to deal with extra hard drives and such. I have already ruled out the V1U. Can anybody recomend a better camera that shoots tape for under $5000?

although the sony has a lot of its fuctionality stuck in a menu would have to recomend the Sony over the Canon I think its sensitivity is better, but it addition
it have to say im not a big fan of HDV had some terrible experenice with the codec's relabitiy
 
While I would much prefer to be shooting on a higher quality camera, I think that the HDV format is best for our low budget, remote location shoot.
How about the Panasonic DVX 100B? How do you think it compares to the Z1U and the XH-A1?
