Sony XLR Adapter kit for A7 series ?

This looks like a possible solution to simplify getting XLR audio into an A7Sii camera :

Anyone use one and is the sound decent quality?
Looks like it has a healthy Sony markup as usual....

Way I see it you can mount an audio recorder to your camera with XLR (such as Tascam DR701D) or mount this Sony adapter on top. Both have advantages and drawbacks.

I was going to get one but kept seeing them with the hot shore ripped off on eBay being sold for parts. The older version had a cold shoe on the connectors and a cable to the hot shoe. Its a little clumsy looking but the newer one seems a bit top heavy and weak.

Yeah it looks like it isn't very substantial. A good bump or certainly a yank on a connected XLR cable would most likely break it off.
A cold shoe with cable to hot shoe sounds better
