hey everyone so ive been filming with the vx1000 recently to film skateboarding. all the settings on my camera are great they produce great colors and exactly the picture i want. but when it comes to uploading to my computer the quality changes alot and the colors too. since the vx is so old i use a capture cam to upload just so i can save the heads on my camera ass much as possible. so what i was wondering if there is something wrong that i am doing, what should i be uploading with ?

How much is the vx1000 going for these days? It's amazing to me that people still keep them running seeing as how they are probably about 20 years old at this point. Anyway, when you say the settings on your camera "are great they produce great colors and exactly the picture you want" but they change on your computer....when are you seeing the "good colors"? Is it when the camera is attached to a TV? Let me know and I'll try to help you out.

If you want some more advice I would say stop hanging around skateperception.com. You arent going to get nearly the quality of info there you will here and you will learn to stop using terms like "good colors" and "capture cam" and learn things like color correction.

the vx1000 was my first professional 3ccd camera, I bought one in the 90's and paid over $5000 for it. It produced great footage, sucked in low light, but if you knew what to do with it, it was a remarkable camera.

I would try a quick test: play the output of the VX1000 directly to a TV using the video output and see what it looks like. Also try transferring a small portion of the footage from the vx1000 firewire port to your computer and see how that looks.

My hunch:
Maybe the footage is not being recorded properly and someone has jacked up the VF color, brightness, settings, etc... but in reality its not being recorded that way.
