Sony vegas HQ Project settings & Rendering settings for crisp quality.

Ive started this thread for anyone that uses sony vegas.

My project settings are the following:-

HD 1080-50i (1920x1080, 25.000 fps)

Feild order: None (progressive scan)

Frame rate: 25.00 (PAL)

Compositing Gamma: Linear

32 bit floating point

Gaussian blur

Blend fields.

Then, once you have setup your projext to the best quality for DV cameras save it as DVX Defualt.

Then go to rendering and choose WMV as we are going to be exporting it to that and my settings are the following:-

Video quality: Best

Audio: CBR (Audio isnt to much of a problem as it tends to sounds good when watched in 720p on youtube by defualt)

(THESE ARE IMPORTANT!, Go to the video tab, and choose)..
Mode: CBR (Two Pass)
Format: Windows Media Video 9
Image Size: 1280x720 (You can choose 1440x1080 if you want 1080p, your choice)
Pixel aspect ratio: 1.000 (Square)
Framerate: 25.000 (PAL)
Seconds per keyframe: 5
(HAVE OVERRIDE COMPRESSION BUFFER TICKED, AND CHANGE IT TO 8)
Lastly, video smoothness: 100.

Then move to the bitrate tab.

Have 'Internet/LAN' Ticked, nothing else, and have it at 6.67M

Then make sure you save it as you HQ default preset and wait for it to export. =)

Link your videos in a reply to this too see how it worked for you.

If these settings are giving you what you want, then great. But . . .

"Best" settings are going to be highly dependent on what you're rendering for, and your personal preferences on the matter.

Also, in Vegas, it often doesn't really gain you anything to edit DV in a 1080 timeline, with the exception of ironing out framing issues (especially if you shot full-frame). Vegas will render to any format from any timeline at the same quality. Most of the time, you'll just end up slowing down performance as it converts everything on-the-fly to the different frame size. But, that, too is a bit of a matter of preference.
