sony V2K gamma curve vs DVX?

i know DVX is the king in this department , however here in australia there is not much in the second hand market for a DVX.
even if you do come across one they cost like $5000au when a sony V2K costs half that!
so as a first cam, im more inclined (with ambivalence) to go for the sony, leaving one question raised...

does the sony V2K have a gamma curve adjustments that enables wider contrast capturing like the DVX? :embarasse

No, sorry... You might look into the AG-DVC30, it's quite a bit less expensive than the DVX and has CineGamma, I believe. But no 24p. If you want the filmlike look of 24p, the lowest-cost camera on the market that has it is the DVX.

thanks Barry, does that also come with various adjustable gamma curves? i guess its easier to do 24p in post than it is to do the impossible and capture a wider spectrum.

googled up on this to find the Panasonic GS400 has a gamma curve setting also. do you know if that is adjustable?

thanks Barry.
