sony to panny tapes

I'm sure this has been covered before, but just for piece of mind, I picked up a little Panny miniDV cam to use as a capture deck for my 100B, the little guy had a Sony tape in it. From what I gather, sony uses a wet lube as opposed to the panny dry lube. Query-how should I treat the heads on little brother to assure my fresh PQ's don't suffer during capture...thanks in advance from a true newbie..this forum rocks..pat yourselves on the back for me willya?:love4:

Welcome. I'm like you and have found this forum to be priceless.

I've got a 320 that I have used for capture for a long time. Those are cool little cameras. Before I realized what I had done I bought some Sony tapes and used them. The only time I had a problem was RIGHT after I switched back to Panasonic only and had some debris issues with the head(s). Usually a dry tape run head to tail (that you then discard) will take care of that problem. I've captured many Panasonic tapes since with zero trouble.

A quick run through with a cleaning tape should do the trick. You can get them at any big box electronics store for $5 to $7. They are really handy and worth the investment.
