Since the earthquake in Japan, I have been checking with greater frequency, the price of 32GB SxS media, in contemplation of purchase for summer concert run.
B&H was edging slowly down and was last at $759. Then it went up to the $800 range and a few days after that, it's $1009.
I checked a few places.. another place matched that. Still another was $1459. Another had $785, but listed it as 'out of stock'.
I hope this shortage/price increase is short-lived. It's really going to hurt sales of the media in the short term. Let's hope Japan gets rapidly back on it's feet, for all the reasons that matter.
I am also reading that there are shortages of key parts to build certain D-SLR cameras. The full extent of the shortages are not yet realized. We're in for some turbulence in the cost/availability of gear now.
