Sony S-Log purchase questions...

I figured a few of you have purchase S-Log recently and already done the research and I have a couple of questions.

First question, is the CBK-GRB01 S-Log purchase $3,680 everywhere? (I assume it is if Sony set the price.) If its cheaper anywhere please let me know.

Second question, (assuming its the same price everywhere) the differences in cost will be in shipping and taxes. Normally I'd just order through B&H or one of the bigger companies. Normally B&H has free shipping on larger items, but on this is charging $25 to ship the chip!

The price is Sony's minimum price and no dealer can sell for less. Honestly I would pay more to ship the card and have it sent FedEx/UPS overnight or two day.
 
Hey Duke, my two cents here, you might want to think again about avoiding paying CA sales tax. If you have a business in California, the Tax board will demand back taxes on goods purchased outside of California...might as well try to take advantage of the sales tax breaks provided by the state for tele-production and at the same time support the local economy.
 
EC Pro would probably ship it to you for free. They also might be inclined to give you a discount on accessories purchased on the same order.
 
.. i still think that the price of slog will drop soon for the canon/red announcements... talking 3-6months timeframe... yes, an assumption, but nevertheless - it's just software....that's why i'm holding back...

I seriously doubt Sony will have a price drop in the next 2-3 years, Red or no Red. There is no competition for this software key. After a couple of years Sony may release the hold on the minimum price but, no one else can make it or sell it. Its not meant for the average consumer. Those who want it will pay the money, period.

There's no free delivery anywhere when you'll dealing with a business that sells professional equipment, but after much tedious browsing, the above link is the cheapest you'll find CBK-GRB01.
 
I wonder if it makes any difference if its UK based? I know the firmware from the US and UK are slightly different sizes. Very slightly, but different. I was also told that's probably due to menu spelling, like color vs colour.

Peter, several places in the US give free delivery within the US, just not overseas.

It looks like I'm better off getting it locally though.
