Hey
I got a Sony PVM 14M2U broadcast monitor....
Its the 13" -- great monitor.

Excellent condition.... Id prefer to meet up in NYC--I live in the murray hill area.

Looking to get $450

It's wierd, I was just looking at this monitor, trying to figure out if I could use it for color correction with HD material. Thinking I'd use a Dell or Apple monitor for editing with FCP and a CRT monitor like this Sony for CC - do you know if this would work? I've read a bunch of discussion threads about this kind of strategy but I'm still not sure what to look for in terms of monitor specs...

Its what I use at work (video editor) for Color Grading/Corrections.
This is what the monitor was designed for. It has pretty incredible features, like 800 lines of resolution, and you can adjust just about anything.

Like I said, I use this monitor regularily (everyday) so I know its capabilities. We color grade projects with budgets of over 500K regularily, so Im pretty sure it would fit your needs.

Id offer you a demo....although I dont think its a feasible option since your in Ithaca.

In all reality (not to sound like a salesman either) cause I have a few inquiries on it anyhow, but if your serious about editing etc. Id look into getting a production monitor, a computer monitor or LCD display is just that, a broadcast monitor is a tool that we use to see how its really going to look. Computer monitors sometimes show colors that arent going to show up on televisions etc. With production monitors you have the options to see how its going to look, then you have the option of underscanning, degaussing, you can take out color so you can see the noise of the picture, true 16x9 viewing, etc etc.

I have the 30" cinema display from apple....it looks pretty, but its not ideal for color correction, at least for me. Its not for broadcast.....then again its all what your going to do with the footage...

Thanks for taking the time for a detailed answer. It sounds like we're on the same page. I'll probably pick up a Dell 24" monitor (or two) for editing/production and set it up to display "pixel for pixel" so I can properly see framing and focus. Then I'd use the PVM 14M2U (or something like it) for color correction. I'd love a broadcast quality field monitor, but they seem really pricey. I was planning to travel downstate to the city over the weekend, but it looks like there's been a change in wind direction, so I'll probably pass on buying this unit unless you still happen to have it in a couple of weeks. Thanks again for the info.!

No problem Jonathan, hope all goes well. Keep an Eye out on the deals sites, if you dont mind taking the 20" dells, I see them time to time for real good prices and they are pretty awesome monitors...
Never saw a 24" on sale yet though :(

NO problem man...wish you the best....

If you dont mind taking a smaller screen, check the deals sites, from time to time those 20" Dell screens come around....I've been tempted ;)
