Re: Sony Press Release - 5.0

From Sony website, they not removed all info :)

"Sony will introduce version 5.0 of its Vegas software, the latest upgrade to its award-winning, state-of-the-art video and audio non-linear editor, at NAB in Las Vegas next month."

I asuming that they trying to keep close till Las Vegas show.

Re: Sony Press Release - 5.0

That's cool. Wonder what the upgrade pricing will be and what the improvements are.

Source window? SOURCE WINDOW????

Re: Sony Press Release - 5.0

After using Vegas for some time, I think the source window-- while perhaps useful-- would be a waste of space. There are many more improvements that I'm hoping for...

Re: Sony Press Release - 5.0

This is awful. I can't believe that sony is doing this to me. I just bought vegas 4.0 about a month and 1/2 ago. now they are upgrading it, without any announcements till it's too late. This sucks, I can't believe it. I can't use vegas now, its outdated!!!!!! How can companies do this to their customers, don't they think before upgrading a product that maybe they could tell us like 9 or 10 months before they do so. I'm sooooo mad. They're almost as bad as Panasonic >:( :( ??? :P :-X :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
bah humbug

Re: Sony Press Release - 5.0

hey they may be very cool and give you a very low uprade price if you ask them nice :)

Re: Sony Press Release - 5.0

???I don't want an upgrade price, when I buy a product I should get every upgrade thereafter for free. :( :( :( ???

Re: Sony Press Release - 5.0

I was really hoping for someone to come reem me for saying that I want everything for free. I really love vegas, and can't wait for the next version. Oh well, can't blaim me for trying.

Re: Sony Press Release - 5.0

*Ream Ream Ream* :)

Actually, many software companies will send free versions of the newest version of software if they bought the current version say within the last 30/60/90/whatever days before the official update. Remember, before freaking out (however un-seriously), the official announcement of Vegas 5 is going to be at NAB. This appears to be true as the press release was quickly removed from sony's website (it could have been a mistake, but more than likely it was done to drum up hype before NAB to get more people interested to come and see).

Just wait for the official public announcement of the new version. I've gotten free full versions from many software companies (including Macromedia, Adobe, etc.) since I bought the old version just before the new version was announced. It's a common practice.

Re: Sony Press Release - 5.0

I was assuming that your post was a gag (at least, I was hoping it was). I figured you were playing off the "disappointed with Panasonic" thread...

Re: Sony Press Release - 5.0

I rember it was actually at Nab a few years ago that I found Sonic Foundry for the first time and they gave me a demo disk of 3.0.. man was that revolutionary. I havn't turned back since, and am very excited about 5.0 and DVDa 2.0 as well.

Re: Sony Press Release - 5.0

I bought Vegas 2.0 a month before 3.0 came out originally, and their upgrade ended up being cheaper than if I had waited. historically, they have taken care of their new customers really well at upgrade time. I don't know if it's the same since sony took over, but you should be okay.

Re: Sony Press Release - 5.0

Sounds good to me. and in the meantime I can continue to work with the best NLE out there for the money. :)

Re: Sony Press Release - 5.0

I’ve been using Vegas 4.0e since Jan 2004. I used Premier and FCP prior to even hearing about Vegas until I stumbled into DVXuser for the first time. Folks, I’m not kidding you, even without the 24p direct import, Vegas blows the competition away completely. Vegas at any price is well worth the bucks. When 5.0 comes out I will upgrade or purchase sight-unseen simply because of the sheer power of Vegas 4.0. Additionally, the workflow of Vegas is far more intuitive than the other NLE I’ve used. When you consider what it cost in time, effort, money, and expertise to shoot great film, why not have the best product available to distill all that footage into a first-rate professional presentation.

The only thing that annoys me about Vegas is that when I look at television now, I jump up screaming… “ah hah, I know how they did that!” My wife just looks at me and says… “can we just enjoy the show without you analyzing the editing.” Of course she’s right but it’s so cool to realize that I can produce on my desktop the same edits I see on Dateline, Primetime and the rest. Ahhhhhh, Final Cut Who?…. Premier what?.., never heard of ‘em.

That’s my take. Just wanted to chime in to say that Vegas is a superb product. Oh, one last thing. I invested in a Vegas keyboard. It’s USB, which means that I can use two keyboards simultaneously. My main keyboard is a Logitech cordless so when I’m editing, I place the cordless in its rack beside my processor and pop the ‘corded’ Vegas keyboard in place on my actual desktop where I have a ball editing.

mike ;D ;) :)
