Sony PCM-D50 vs. Zoom H4N

Trying to figure out which one to buy. It seems that the H4N is more popular around these parts, but some friends in the sound recording biz have told me that the Sony is a better recorder - but with a more premium price.

Can anyone substantiate these claims? Any personal experiences?

It'll be used, obviously, as an alternative to the onboard sound of the 5D and 7D.

Cheers.

am new to this and not sure about the sony but have the h4n and think its superb and really easy to use. Sound quality is spot on especially with rode microphone running through xlr on phantom power, no humming issues
