Sony NXCAM (HXR-NX5) -- any other users out there?

Thanks. I think I will give one more chance to the NX5. It is supposed to be a nice camcorder. Also I need to practise more, but the ingesting is still a big problem for me. How should I suppose to transfer those long mts files to FCP? Now I created m2ts files with the CMU software but that won't even open in FCP.
 
Why not look for a NX5 forum and ask about the workflow. You should be able to pull the AVCHD files off the camera, then use Compressor to make them into something like ProRez(LT), so you can edit the footage easily. Or use some kind of file transfer similar to the EX1's "XDCAM Transfer" that trans-codes the files right from the camera.
 
Update: I managed to ingest footage without any problem. On another computer with FCP7 it works. I forgot that FCP 6 I had on my computer and that is way older than the AVCH camcorders (NX5U).
Also after ingesting the footage, the skew is gone. I am not sure why I saw that many skews on the TV by connecting the camera with an HDMI cable. I shot in interlaced.

I ingested it with Prores 422, now I will try it with Prores LT. I heard that it gives the same quality with less files size (which is good enough for these AVCHD camcorders anyway). I guess I will keep it then :)
 
Yes ProRez(LT) looks great. I've seen close up zooms of regular ProRez compared to LT, and you can't tell the difference.
 
I actually own 2 unit NX-5 cam, but this camera have little problem.

1 Focus Error(E61:10) suddently focus out, it happen specially outdoor shoot.
2 buffer overrun event only using the FMU128.
3 SD card Error, always tell to re-insert SD card.
4 Blur image (no skintone detail)

i tried send to service centre singapore, but the feed back is they can't find any error issue.
it so funny.

1 of the camera is also hang after sony logo appear.
forgive my poor english.
