Lots of anticipation surrounds the launch by Sony on September 12th at IBC of their new 4K XAVC camcorder called the FS7, within their line-up currently prefaced with NEX that includes the FS100 and FS700. Here's their launch video:

Meanwhile, breaking news is getting socially streamed at the new User Group that eventually includes video clips:

Sounds like the key sure things are internal 4K recording, and a Super 35mm sensor, making it revolutionary if combining those features for low-light sensitivity in ways that the a7S is incapable (as a professional tool). What do you think?

Even if it is 4:2:0 internal I'm interested. Now if it had IO that was better then that would be great. Check out the back of the camera in this fuzzy pic.

Alistar Chapman said it will not be called the FS7. No one seemed to pick up on that.

Sony isn't joking anymore ;) I love the form factor and grip

"It can record up to 180fps in full HD. The camera will be able to record a range of regular gammas, along with S-Gamut3/SLog3 & S-Gamut3,Cine/SLog3. The FS7 features two XQD card slots that support simultaneous recording and relay recording. A new XQD G series card with ultra-high speed transfer up to 400MB/s (read) and 350MB/s (write) has been developed to cope with the higher data rates.
Sony seem to have taken what they have learned from both the FS700 and F5 and designed a hybrid of both. The FS7 seems to have addressed a lot of the issues Sony FS700 owners expressed, while incorporating key features found on the F5. The end result is a camera that looks to tick a lot of boxes in terms of specifications, usability and price.

One nice feature is that the camera runs on Sony’s BP-U type batteries – the same as the ones in the EX-1, EX-3 and PMW-200.
The FS7 can record QFHD in 4:2:2 10-bit colour sampling at up to 600Mb/s in the XAVC Intra codec. This is the same recording format used in the Sony F5 and F55 and shouldn’t be confused with XAVC-S found in the a7S that is only 8-bit. For backwards compatability it is also able to record in a variety of recording formats including Long GOP, and MPEG HD422 – an important feature for some broadcasters and production houses.
An option to record Apple ProRes 422 will be available from early 2015 via a firmware update, but to do this requires additional hardware – more on this later. There is no indication about what this will cost.

And here's the obligatory video by Den Lennie...

Detail/dynamic range look good. Skin tone though...

In its defense it's possible this was not lit at all, and was only lit from green bounce from daylight hitting foliage... and nasty fill from a circline fluorescent bulb. I don't think I've ever seen a circline bulb with a CRI above ~70.

DSLRshooter and Nino's video on Cinema 5D say $8000. Other sources say $10000. Either way, a darn good deal. My hope is for the lower figure, but I understand if owners of the FS700 hope for the higher price - cuz their resale value will get killed.

I think Den often over-exposes skin tone and ends up with that plastic look. The FS700 video was the same. Maybe he likes it that way:-) Anyway, the camera looks very attractive to me!

Very attractive I should say... I was just thinking of buying fs700 but now I've got big dilemma... Also I'm pleased than now Sony allows CD to record on 7Q (hopefully from the start). But still missing a key feature TC IN. Could not find on the camera...

the tc in is on the rear box (an optional extra)

I feel they do an $8k wedding camera and the box will be expensive for things like TC genlock..

I actually expected more from this camera but I can see why Sony have a cap on some of the features.

A global shutter is missing, 120fps in 4k or QHD and 240fps in 1080p is also missing.

I seriously hope they constructed this camera way better than the FS100/700 and that the mount is secured with a metal frame instead of the plastic like on the FS100/700. The camera is also reported as being side heavy and at 4.5kg fully rigged heavy for a small camera.

But I applaud that they've integrated all to do without any add on things. With the right lens this will be a fairly good camrea to use on the shoulder.

I think footage looks fine and without anything to complain about.

That is with the new 28-135 power zoom cine lens. Which is a rather hefty lens. Camera only is 2.0kg, I believe the FS700 is 1.7kg so not so much difference.
