Sony NEX FS700-4K?

You flip-floppin again?

HAHA not true. I don't remember an instance where I didn't like this camera. Especially after working with these files from personal experience.
A great image is all I care about, man. And affordable, of course ;-)

Don't want to spoil the party....
960fps in a usable size? Doubt it.
If it does 120 in 1080, that would already be an achievement for that price. But i doubt the price also. Sony might want to push this, but they also want to make a profit with their cameras. They don't sell many lenses with these cams, so they need to make money with the camera. R&D of this costs a lot, so 8.000 is a reach.

Internal 4:2:0 codec might be a problem again. And if the external box costs 5.000 then it is the same hoax as the Scarlett. But maybe they found something...

And it might be a REDish announcement: this is coming........in 2013

But if it comes at last all F3s and C300s have better been paid back, because everyone will need this one again ;-)

And I disagree with the continuing C300 price-critizism. It is a weathersealed cam with a lot of nice features on the body alone that costed money to develop. The FS100body is a LEGO-toy in comparison. If the FS700 is also that weak, then you better buy 2 if you really want to use and bruise it.

I dropped hints so many times it's not even funny. Lol.

I guess people are more stuck in old ways than big companies now.

Can we please put this to rest?
My FS100 saw a lot of rough handling, abuse and took several dives from the jib arm and tripod.
Twice on rock/concrete and once on a hardwood floor.
It takes quite a lot of Flak, looks a bit battled - but still working just fine.
Not even some of the so called "flimsy plastic" or the handle came of.

Agreed! The FS100 may not be a brick of steel, however it's well built.

As much as I love Dslr's, Canon MUST bow down to Sony F3/Fs100 footage it is simply better and I work with Dslr footage every day....

Well....and Canon DSLRs have to bow down to their own C300. DSLRs are not "made for" film, they just happen to be able record a running image. But next to F3s, FS100s and C300s it looks quite dreadful (yes I know there are good 5D/7D/D4 examples out there and Act of Valor was #1, but to get them their the teams had to walk an extra mile)

I just don't get why people are saying that this will eat into the F3 or C300.

The FS100 didn't seem to affect things too much, why would a 4K version?

People buying the F3 or C300 have a specific purpose in mind..... Top quality 1080p footage with great DR, highlight handling, low light, log, pro I/Os and features.

Unless the FS700 gives all those things... I think the other cams are safe enough. 4K or not.

I understand your point, well seen. However, I don't know how they might justify it if the new 4K camera won't deliver similar features...

Well, if it is a 4K FS100... then I think the F3/C300 crowd will be fine.

Pure speculation, but I imagine the FS700 to have a similar DR range, highlights, I/Os etc of the FS100.

I'm not bashing on the FS100, it's a good camera... but more of an indie DSLR upgrade, rather than a professional broadcast camera. The DR, highlights and general features of the F3/C300 are, as to be expected, all a step higher than the FS100. I can't see much buyers remorse.

I'll be as happy as everyone else to be proved wrong though and see a 4K, 120fps, 13+ DR, 64000iso, beautiful highlights, s-log, 10bit, 4:2:2 camera for $8K. :-)

If this is what's revealed on April 2nd, then this will go down as the greatest selling indie-film camera in history...

I refuse to believe this until Monday. :)
I remember some known filmmaker doing another April Fools thing last year or year before.
Everyone went all GrapeApe for nothing. But...this kind of camera is definitely coming, if not on Monday, in 2012 or 2013.

I was onto you, I just didn't drop your name.

I think I dropped a hint to you like two weeks ago in the MKIII spec thread when you mentioned Sony. You thought I was talkin' about S-Log... far from it. If I could find the post. Tsk

Keep in mind that it's 4K "READY' not out of the box or maybe not even this year.

"The first 4K-ready Super35mm camcorder in its class – providing an assured upgrade path to 4K acquisition and delivery - with full HD 1080p for today"

For now, enjoy your 1080p....But the interesting part is that it's upgradeable and will even include 4K RAW: The camcorder will also have the capability to produce 4K RAW 3G-SDI output via a future upgrade.

So, what will the upgrade cost. Then you will need the recorder as well. Still E-mount. Do they have 4k lenses in R&D as we speak????

But it looks like a solid future proof investment. Hey RED, somebody be knockin at your door. LOL!
