Have you guys heard about this new product from Sony? I just saw it in the online Videography magazine.
"Sony has released details about its HVR-Z1U HDV camcorder.
The HVR-Z1U HDV 1080 camcorder can record DV, DVCAM, and HDV images at 1080 60i, 1080 50i, 30fps, 25fps, and 24fps - in either SD or HD. Switchable 60/50 capability is an advantage for ranyone who needs to satisfy clients in both 60i/50i and NTSC/PAL HD and SD applications.
The camcorder uses three 1/3-inch 16:9 native CCDs and super HAD technology and includes a 12x optical zoom CarlZeiss Vario-Sonnar T Lens and Sony's 14-bit A/D with Digital Extended Processor (DXP). The viewfinder may be operated in either color or B&W mode. THe flip-out 3.5inch LCD display reveals the camera control buttons underneath.
Other features of the HVR-Z1U incude CineFrame and CinemaTone functions for "cinema-like" recordings (24F/30F/24F), hyper gain, manual irus control with 24 steps, SMPTE time-code wit user presets, colour correction, and built-in HD-to-SD downconversion playback."
Sounds quite promising. I wonder what Panasonic is going to do about this?
My DVX sounds like it's going to go obsolete so soon!!!
