Sony HDR-FX1 for $2000

yea I'm thinking should I really pass this up for a dvx100a? I mean I'm saving like 1,000 dollars just by getting the sony? I'll have to modify my 35 adapter - but jeez this might just be worth it without question.

It's still like $2999 on BH Photo and that's cheap for this camera. What's the hitch?
 
Some people think it's a price mistake. Others think they are trying to get rid of them because the FX2 is coming? These are just things I heard other people say on slickdeals.net (which is where I found it) so I don't know. It's all speculation.

Either way it's a good price, if they actually ship it. Cheapest on ebay is around $2500. I'm sure after this, the ebay price will drop down as it gets flooded with them.
 
it has been posted on VU, that someone called Apple, and the deal is real. It is a
special from Sony, and that a lot of apple staff are buying them up at that price.
ARGH. If the HC1 price hadnt dropped, I would sell mine and buy another FX1.
 
Once again Canadians get screwed. This kind of pricing rarely occurs in Canada. The Apple.ca store doesn't even carry the FX1.

(I just spent $3700 US on this camera in Canada ).

I am getting annoyed purchasing major brand names in Canada when you can save 40% for many of the things if purchasing from the US.
 
This was brought to my attention from DVinfo.net and the individual says he verified it with Apple. If anyone wants in I'd do it. This is about as legit as you're going to get, a heck of a lot safer than eBay. I'd do it now, but I just bought by DVX100A six months ago and I prefer it to the FX1. I'll get into HD eventually, but for those who want it now I'd snatch this up.

Edit: MichelleDVX, know any Bogdan's in Edmonton? I know it's a small town and all. :D
 
I called the Apple 1-800 number and they quoted the same price, but the guy is just looking it up on the web like me.

A guy here that I work with is going to our apple store and buying one as soon as they open. I'll let you know how this goes.
 
There is no way that Apple is going to be able to fufill all the orders--This price is now plastered over every forum that has anything to do with video on the Internet. I have heard that some people put in orders for like 20 of them so they can resell them on Ebay and make a fast buck. Anyhow, at that price, its one of the best deals I have ever seen on the Internet.

I did indeed call Apple, and got confirmation that the price on Apple's website is legit and NOT a typo.
 
Yeah, my friend just ordered this online. The local store didn't have it in stock. It's due to arrive on Monday. We'll see if it ships out today.
 
I just bought one. Everything seemed to go through fine and its supposed to ship within 24 hours. Total was $2,135.67 after tax. Even shipping was free. Now I'll have two of them if everything goes through as it should.

I was watching a ebay auction on a fx1 that sold for 2,400 used. That price is simply amazing. Let me put this into perspective the GL2 in apples store is $2800 new. It has been out for over 3 years now and doesn't shot high def. I most say at this price I really cannot recommend any other prosumer camcorder for a first time buyer. Sony you are on the right path here. If other reseller follow and drop the price to $2000 this sony will be the hottest selling prosumer model in history. I talked to a guy earlier that said he would sell his hvx and get 2 sony fx1's if that price was real. Wow the price is real.
I dont think sony is coming out with a new camera at nab. I think this is a very clever ploy to steal thunder from whoever does come out at nab. Think about it. New hdv cam comes out that does bla bla bla for 4k. Well I already bought 2 sony fx1's for 4k so im drained till next year. Brilliant. Even the PSP is looking better. Okay I got carried away.:)

Wow, the day after my wife and I decided to not buy and wait till something more affordable, approaching the versatily of the HVX-200.

This could alter that decision...
