I am not sure if this pertains to all APPLE stores but I was in the local mall earlier this week and they have the new Sony HD miniDV camera on display hooked up to a MAC G5. I am not sure if they were selling them or they just had it hooked up on display.

I'm going to the Apple store at Indy next week. I'll have to check it out. They used to always have G1's in there.

Re: Sony HD camera at Apple store...

They had an FX1 out here in California when they were doing the free seminar on FCP express. I think the presenter mentioned they were planning on putting it out on display attached to one of the G5's in the "movie" area of the store. But my guess is it's there as a sales tool for pro-sumers to show you can use a mac with that camera. I don't think they sell it at the apple store, and if they did, it would cost more there than you could get it somewhere else. Apple always marks up product in store (at least here in cali). Bose stereo headphones for the iPod sold in store are a case in point. (marked up $20 before taxes)

Re: Sony HD camera at Apple store...

The big chicago apple store took out their video section for ANOTHER iPod section. I love the ipod, but it does not need to sections in one apple store. O well, I can go to the one in the suburbs and see if they have it there.

Yeah, there is an FX1 up on display in the Apple Store at the Fashion Show Mall here in Las Vegas. They were also shooting some show called "Second Honeymoon" that is being tested out, but they were using XL2's  ;).
