At first I was psyched about the locking lens mount, but after considering the speed at which I have to swap lenses when shooting Run & Gun, I'm not sure that it would be anything but a hindrance.

The electronic ND- that I want. Can we get the electronic ND on an Fs7 without the locking lens mount? Can a lens be "clicked" into position without engaging the lock-ring? In other words, can you mount a lens without using the locking ring? Is the lock ring an additional feature to the standard click-into-place system?

Are you using native E-mount glass or an adapter? For those of us playing the EF+Metabones game, it doesn't seem to be much of a hindrance.

I will test the lens-swapping time when I get hold of a demo camera (but I will very likely buy one as a companion to my FS7). I am not convinced from one experience with the camera at the product roll-out that this will be significantly slower than the fS7. Turn the lock. insert the lens. No twisting of the lens is necessary. And then lock. Variable ND will not be available on the FS7, I am certain.

I've read that it requires two hands. And there is a video from a trade show where they are having fun seeing if anyone can manage to perform the lens swap with only one hand. None are able to. Well, not without great difficulty.

With the Fs7 I am able to perform lens swaps with the camera held in my right hand. In roughly around 5 seconds. If I have to place the camera on the ground or on a table and then use two hands to perform the lens swap, it is likely going to double the time it takes for lens swaps and that means action missed / missed shots. As it is now there have been many, many times where the time for the lens swap caused me to miss action and a Director / Producer was aggravated by my having missed the action. Needing to place the camera on the ground in order to swap lenses can be problematic when shooting handheld in a muddy area or merely in an area with wet pavement / standing water. That is why I was curious if the mount lock on the body of the camera can be left disengaged yet the lens still secure as a result of having "clicked" into place as with the original mount.

"Variable ND will not be available on the FS7, I am certain."

Maybe we should refer to the original Fs7 as the "Fs7 Mark I". ( or "Fs7 1.0"?

Saying "Variable ND will not be available on the FS7" can be interpreted as saying the Fs7, in any form, will not have variable ND. For a moment I misinterpreted it as your saying that the Fs7 Mark II would not have variable ND.

I dance between EF and e-mount glass. I would like to move to only using e-mount glass seeing as the adapters can cause flares and it really doesn't make much sense to be using adapters behind expensive glass. But the selection of available e-mount glass is still wanting and it is not easy to limit oneself to e-mount glass. Particularly when it comes to Cinema zooms. There are none in e-mount.

The Sigma Cine zooms (18-35 and 50-100) are both available in e-mount, I believe.

Interesting observation. Ill definitely check it out as I may have a camera tomorrow. Yes. The Sigma cine zooms are acailable in rmount

AFAIK only the PL versions of the Sigma Cine zooms is shimable, so when utilizing E-mount, & EF-mount, versions it's possible the backfocus may be off causing the lens' focus marks to be inaccurate.

Terry - any idea on when that 18 -110 lens will be available for purchase? Assume the kits get sent out first... then perhaps the lens shortly thereafter?

Yes, only the PL Version of the Sigma Cine Zooms will be shimmable when its released. EF and E-Mount versions are not shimmable.

Sigma for a fee, will change the Cine Lens mounts from one mount to another. It could be awhile before Sigma USA has the parts to do the mount conversion.

We've got both the 18-35mm and the 50-100mm Cine Lenses in stock in E-Mount below:

SIGMA 18-35MM T2 CINE LENS E MOUNT - 210967 $3999

SIGMA 50-100MM T2 CINE LENS E MOUNT - 693967 $3999
