Hi - does anyone know what the workflow is like with FCP X?

With RED and the REDCODE RAW workflow, you can just import the footage straight into the system and work with it as if you were importing AVCHD off of SD cards. How's the Sony 4k workflow with FCP X? Any third parties involved?

Thank you for your time.

Open it with Sony RAW-Viewer, make some basic color correction and Export it in DPX or Open EXR formats .. than you can do Grading in DaVinci Resolve ...etc..

another quick question, how long can the BNC cable be without causing any issues with quality/

As long as the cable is rated for 3G it will be fine.

If you make your own, you can get the specs on length with different cable stock from the manufacturer, the BNC crimps have to be 3G rated as well. If you use 90s make sure they are rated for 3G as well. SMPTE424 is the spec...

Be careful with the cable don't let anyone step on it or bend it in a very tight bend.

And always carry spare cable just in case.

I outlined my WF in an earlier post.

Basically open in Resolve, do an auto grade, or whatever you like, on all the clips and then export as ProResHQ or whatever. This makes .mov with audio attached. This can them be edited in FCPX.

OOOPPPS, I was talking abut the Odyssey 7Q recorder.

4K is not available yet, this is for RAW 2K but 4K will be in a "popular codec" that will work in FCPX right off the bat. Once the FW is available. If RAW 4K becomes available WF should be similar to the 2K WF.
