FS7: Sony FS7 with SmallHD 702 Brite

I just got my hands on the Sony FS7, so I'm still getting use to the camera. I've been using the Alphatron EVF and switched to the SmallHD 702. I'm not really digging this monitor, the color is way off and I'm not sure how to or if using monitor LUTs is the way to go. Do any of you have any advice?

Thanks!

I have that combo. I found the monitor to be a bit green, but not sure I'd say way off. I'm not next to it now but in the menu you can adjust the colors. I did a quick and dirty adjustment to the eye next to some other monitors. LUTs are easy to load, it now has a bunch of preloaded ones or copy a few onto an SD card. I did find in LUTcalc there are a few parameters the 702 didn't like.

I made a CC LUT for the monitor to get the image to look like the LCD screen on the FS7. Works fine and looks accurate enough.

The big issue with the 702 and FS7 is the that the 702 displays an interlaced image from the FS7 output and it can't be fixed apparently.

Interesting.

Have only used the Brite on a ARRI Mini. Was great outdoors, but hated it in subdued light as I could never get a feel for the image.

Have you tried the Gratical EVFs? I have an Eye & it blows away the Alphatron. Great image, & tools.

Hey Bern,

I have also recently become an Eye user since 'downgrading' from the GHD (didn't need the connections, or weight, or extra battery-charging duties). How have you been getting on with the proximity sensor on yours? It seems like a great idea to save power and limit burn-in (my overlays were ghosting pretty visibly after only a year of use on the GHD), but I was shooting a concert last night and found that the EVF went to sleep whilst I had my eye to it a few times, only to be revived by moving away and back again.

What setting do you use yours on, and have you had any similar issues?

Cheers,

jason

Had the same issues so turned off the Proximity Sensor.

AFAIK you only need to worry about camera generated overlays burning into the OLED as the Eye pixel shifts it's own.
