sony FS7 vs panasonic DVX200

Unless something else is going on (auto gain compensating?) then yes, the filter wheel is not working. I had one break on me with a rented FS7. I don't recall if just the knob was loose or if the internal mechanism was shot.

Auto gain is off. Tested it again after your answer. But nothing happened except thé ND filter message on thé screen.

I have a strong feeling the camera isn't really for you...I would consider saving your money.

I returned thé camera to seller. Maybe you are right that's not for me thé fs7. I kept thé test footage. Couldn't watch it on my 4k tv thé footage from thé fs7 when rendered to MP4. On my 23inch pc screen (full HD) i saw no difference between fs7 dvx200 and my older Sony fs100.

Then the FS7 is either broken or wasn't used correctly because it is a far superior camera to the other two.

probably I used it not correctly. But I had limited time to do some tests Probably on my 55" tv I would see the difference when set up correctly but mp4 was not playable. Some codec problem probably. Strange because my tv can handle 4k 50/60p files to play from the dvx200 and gh5s.

update from seller: 2 screws were "lose" so that's why the nd filter didn't work. He (fs7) is now in a repair shop. But is it normal when you turn on the fs7 the lcd screen takes a time to get bright?
on this fs7 turning on it did get bright in "steps". Maybe this is because the broken nd filter? And maybe this is related to the broken nd filter. In my testing at F3.5 the image was twice as dark then my dvx200 at F2.8. I think it was set on HDR and rec709.

I don't understand what you are talking about. The FS7 doesn't record MP4 files. And if you are viewing directly out of the camera to a monitor then the codec does not matter anyway.

MXF was converted to MP4 to play on my smart tv. Removing the audio from FS7 in vegas pro did the file play. So the audio codec wass causing the problem it was not playable on tv.

If you changed the clip in post, then that is not the original clip anymore. So it is incorrect to say that the clip from the FS7 wouldn't playback correctly on your TV. Your problem is in post, not with the camera.
