sony fs100 footage +clipwrap + fcp 7 = i'm lost-share your edit workflow?

man, i have sony fs100 test on a sd card.

i'm looking at using clipwrap to assist bringing the file folders into my fcp7.

but i'm still a wee bit confused.

anyone care to share their clipwrap + fcp7 workflow.

thanks in advance to any who cares to share.

be well.

Mount your card or copy its contents to the your drive.

Launch ClipWrap. Then drag the mts files into the interface, or use the + button to import them into ClipWrap.

There is a drop down menu called "Output Format" that displays your convert options in the lower left.

Choose the various options for ProRes if that is what you intend to edit in. ProRes 422 seems a popular choice.

The Movie Destination option is where the converted footage is saved to. Click the Browse button to set your own choice -- usually a new folder in your media drive.

Once converted, import in FCP 7 from that folder.

david-

you are kind to take a moment to share your workflow.

if i may ask an even more basic question, why use clipwrap to get to pro res when fcp7's log & transfer can provide the same function.

is there some obvious reason/function that clipwrap performs that fcp7 doesn't?

lastly, prores 422 or prores LT?

any and all opinions are greatly appreciated.

be well.

If you have pro res LT on your system, I would convert to it, but some FCP 7 installs don't.

I don't use FCP7 anymore, but when I did, I would use the Log and Transfer function instead of ClipWrap. For the files that produce errors in L/T, use CW instead.

Both work fine, and I think L/T may be a little faster. although I've not used it with FS100 files.
