Sony FS100 - Do picture profiles get saved in clip metadata?

I had a picture profile I absolutely loved and I lost it when I updated to firmware 2.0. My dumb fault! Anyway, I have the clips I shot with the profile. Is there anyway to look at the clip metadata and see what picture profile settings on the clip were? If this can be done, my life will be amazing! Thanks for any help you can give!

I'm sorry but I don't think so.
The good thing is that with firmware 2.0 you can produce much nicer PP IMHO.

You found it once, so can't you find the settings again?

No PP info saved in the metadata nor even which PP was used sadly.

Sony have confirmed several times there is absolutely no, zero, nada difference to the image settings/quality in firmware 2.0 from previous firmware. It's all in the mind.

Thanks for your help. I will try and find again. There's so many profiles out there it's hard to remember which one I was using. Hopefully Sony will allow us to save their name in the next upgrade.

They did add a new gamma-curve wich preserve the highlights better.

I asked Sony and both Sony USA and Sony Europe both confirmed after speaking to their engineers that there was no change to the image quality or processing in the firmware upgrade.

Emperor's new clothes...

Even if I have evidence?

I had the camera prior to the firmware update as saw zero difference post update.

I'd be happy to make an unreserved apology if there is evidence. But that still leaves Sony confirming to me there was no change to the image and I specifically asked about gamma curves, they said they were not changed which matched my observations.

So, Matt please show the evidence you have.

Nirv - I hope to be dining out for ever with the FS100 on these two pics. Any normal human being (e.g. my wife) will say 'So?' But look at those SLATS!

and now, in INCREDIBLE V2-o-vision, same PP...

Ta.... DAHH!

Distinct lack of Red Clip.

As an ICE, I've had Sony information direct from engineers, direct from Marketing, but we Test, Test, Test. I think there's a difference, no?

(For what it's worth, folks - there's a YEAR between the two images. I recorded the first one last year for the FS100 In Depth series, and this one is pretty much the same time of year, same lighting conditions, I did a test between the FS100 PP (now upgraded to V2) and the FS700 (with CineGamma). Comparing the two shots, I see huge leaps forward with the slats at the back, and have never hit 'Overloaded Red Channel' issues since upgrading).

Only a year?

Good job the sun was in the same place and atmospheric conditions were identical otherwise the precision of such a test could be called into question.

Maybe Alex should consider changing his tshirt more often too!

Certainly interesting images but for me far too many variables to be conclusive. I can certainly say I saw no changes like you captured.

I can confirm that there is absolutely no change in the Picture Profile engine between Firmware 1 and 2. I did a proper test at our school's studio, fixed lighting and camera setup. We recorded footage with all available gamma curves before and after the update. It was exactely the same.

Jay, not doubting for a moment. Need to see clipped reds (like my first image - pretty easy to get with ITU709) 'before and after - if you can get it after'. My beef is that I got clipped reds before, but not since. It was one of my main reasons for wanting to trade up to the FS700. :)
