Sony FE PZ 28-135mm lens BETTER than stock EA50UH 18-200 lens?

Better overall image quality? I usually use this lens at weddings when I'm zoomed completely in so the aperture is at F6.3, whereas this new lens would be at F4. But the glass you think is much better than the stock kit lens that came with my EA50UH?

Yeah, pretty sure it will beat the EA50 stock lens in image quality and light sensibility. But at 28-135 instead of 18-200. And €2500 vs €1199 ;)

It is designed so that when you zoom, the focus does not change. And when you focus, the focal length does not "breath" (change a bit)...

So ya, waaaaaay better. They seem to be aiming for a "baby" Fujinon Cabrio - very cinema camera friendly... unfortunately, the focal length is designed for full frame, not super 35. With a starting equivalent focal length of 42mm on an S35 camera, there isn't a single venue I'd be able to use it in. Hopefully you work in larger venues, and the focal length will work for you...

It's an amazing lens for full frame cameras though. It's the equivalent of the VERY expensive 2.8 cinema zooms.

For the type of work I would use this lens for 28mm is fine with me. I use a 28-70 a lot on C300 & GH4(with SB). For me the big thing about this lens is having servo zoom, parfocal and very little breathing

Don'T compare this lens to Cabrios or other cine zooms.

It's another league.

But at least it has:
- constant aperture (hopefully also constant t-stop)
- servo zoom control
- 3 different rings (focal length, aperture, focus)
- constant length

Here's what Alister Chapman says:
Where this camera will be really good is when combined with the new 28-135mm f4 servo zoom lens. Typically par-focal lenses with this kind aperture and zoom ratio cost in excess of $30K. This lens will be around $2.7K. Being able to zoom in and out on a large sensor camera smoothly really increases the cameras flexibility making it much easier to use in run and gun type situations. The lens is never going to be an incredible performer at this price and when wide open I did find it a little soft, but for shear ease of use it’s really remarkable.

The cabrios aren't even stabilized right?

Are this one and the FZ mount zooms are the only proper cine lenses for large sensors that are stabilized? This one by far the cheapest.

Stabilizing has never been in cinema lenses though.

It's photo lenses that brought this feature to cinematography.
The Sony FZ lenses and the e-mount lenses are more or less photo lenses in
cinema housings. That's why they are cheap.
But they are not parfocal and have quite heavy breathing (focal length changes when changing focus).
You always get what you pay for...
The 28-135 is the first e-mount lens with it's own aperture ring and focus ring with hard stops and
repeatable distance settings.

But in today's world of smaller cameras used handheld, image stabilisation is essential I feel. Just can't stand watching things shot on a dslr most of the time. Even when rigged these cameras suffer from the small camera jitter.
With the Sony E Mount lenses and OSS it's rather good, and on something like the FS700 that also has some weight to it, it's really rather smooth and nice.
Auto focus (especially when paired with face recognition) is also very useful on many occasions. Focus eases in in a smooth way and not in a jumpy fashion. Which also makes in more useful.

For me e-mount lenses are great for many situation, but I'm also collecting the Samyang cine lenses for more controlled situations.
